CIDCO is a city planning agency was created by the Government of Maharashtra in 1970. It functions as the New Town Development Authority and Special Planning Authority of the Maharashtra government, overseeing the planning and development of entire urban infrastructure, providing municipal services, and executing large-scale infrastructure projects such as the Navi Mumbai International Airport and the Navi Mumbai Metro, the Navi Mumbai Special Economic Zone, and JNPT Port, the largest container port in India.
